WILL WAS STRONGER THAN THE SYSTEM!!
Henri Charierre - nick name Papillon after a butterfly tattooed on
his chest, is beeing inprisoned by the french for murdering a pimp.
He is in fact not guilty, but is beeing shipped to the prison
colony of French Guana.
Steve McQueen starrs as Papillon in his best role ever. On the
boat headed for French Guana he offers his protection to Dega (
Dustin Hoffman ), who`ve managed to smuggle money with him. This
wonderful movie is based upon the
book written by the real Henri Charierre, and you have to admire
this man after seeing the movie. In the documentary on this DVD,
you see him on the filmset giving instructions of how it really
was. The movie is strong but
yet beautiful, and the friendship that developes between Papillon
and Dega is masterly performed. This is a kind of movie you don`t
see too often. You don`t forget such a film. In my opinion this is
one of the best movies ever
made. Papillon is a movie about how strong one mans will can be,
it is about friendship and survival. Everyone should see this
film. The picture quality is amazing for a movie that is 27 years
old, and it is anamorphic in 2.35:1.
The sound is remixed to DD.5.1, and has little rearactivity, but
that is forgivable for a classic like this. It also has a
stereotrack. I`m proud to have this movie in my collection, and
don`t think any moviecollection can be
compleated without it. This is a strong 6 on the 1-6 scale.
